Groundbreaking Celebration

The groundbreaking ceremony for Jubilee’s renovation and expansion project marked the official launch of our “Renewing Hope, Rebuilding Lives” fundraising campaign. Distinguished attendees included Campaign Co-Chairs Jack McGinley and Archabbot Douglas Nowicki, alongside government officials Senator Jay Costa, Congresswoman Summer Lee, Bishop David Zubik, Senator Wayne Fontana, Mayor Ed Gainey, County Executive Sara Innamorato, and County Councilman DeWitt Walton. Executive Director Mark Latterner hosted the ceremony, which drew funders, partner organizations, volunteers, and community members who packed Jubilee’s dining area to witness this momentous occasion.

Celebration Stories

The celebration featured several significant moments, including Congresswoman Summer Lee’s presentation of a $461,197 check to support the renovation project—funding she secured in the government spending bill signed by President Biden. Board leadership, including Chair Louis Pietragallo, Jr., Vice Chair Brittini Wright-Burley, Treasurer Emeka Onwugbenu, and member Dan Stitt joined in accepting this crucial contribution. The event highlighted personal connections to Jubilee’s mission, with Executive Director Mark Latterner honoring the legacy of founder Sister Liguori, and Kitchen Manager Heather Rizzo sharing her inspirational 28-year journey from seeking help at Jubilee to becoming a staff member who now offers the same hope and support to others in the community.

Jubilee’s Kitchen Manager, Heather Rizzo, shared her moving story of coming to Jubilee 28 years ago seeking help, finding her way with support from Sister Liguori and eventually becoming Jubilee’s Kitchen Manager, offering hope and help to others in the community.
